F1 News: Red Bull Trophy Smashed Yet Again During Belgian GP Celebrations

This time, Lando Norris was nowhere near it.

With trophy damage set to two in a row- it has happened again after Max Verstappen's victory at Spa last weekend who started P6 after a five-place grid penalty for taking a fifth gearbox of the season. The Dutchman took the lead by lap 17 by overtaking Sergio Perez before bringing home his third consecutive Belgian Grand Prix victory.

For Red Bull, it was a win-win situation with Perez securing second place. However, things went a bit wrong during the champagne celebrations on the pit lane. A standard team photo session was followed by a spray of champagne in all directions.

When senior Red Bull personnel and the drivers ran away to avoid the champagne shower, the team's pit board fell over the constructor's trophy that destroyed it instantly. However, the incident was received with a lot of amusement.

Verstappen was heard saying to a laughing Horner "It's broken again, the trophy is broken again!"

After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lando Norris broke Verstappen's trophy unintentionally during the podium celebrations. He later apologized for breaking the $45,000 trophy that took six months to craft by hand. The Hungarian GP organizers vowed to replace the broken trophy with a new one.

The constructor's trophy at the Belgian Grand Prix was collected by Red Bull's valued Garage technician Greg Reeson. Horner spoke highly of Reeson after the win at Spa. He said:

"Results like today are the combination of teamwork and that's why you guys have seen Greg, our garage technician that looks after all the tyres in the garage, to go and get the constructors' trophy today."

Verstappen is now one win shy of his ninth consecutive victory in Formula 1 whose record is held by Sebastian Vettel from 2013.
