F1 News: Ten Arrested As Dutch GP Threatened By Climate Change Protestors
The police seemed to have taken action against protestors from the Extinction Rebellion who were found protesting against the Dutch GP at the CM.com Circuit Zandvoort today. With the event being just a week away, the protestors tried their best to disrupt work being carried out for the race weekend.
The movement's motive is to highlight climate change problems through civil disobedience and other non-violent means of protest. In addition, protests are also being done to force the government to introduce climate-friendly laws and help in eliminating greenhouse emissions completely by 2025.

Though they have been receiving plenty of support from people across the world, they have faced a lot of criticism as well for creating unnecessary trouble and disrupting daily life. Like in this case where they were allotted a designated area by the authorities to protest and have their word out but the protesters didn't comply with the order and chose to block the circuit's access roads instead.
Their actions could have delayed the movement of vehicles to and from the Zandvoort Circuit. Fortunately, the police swung into action and gave out a warning to the protesters to disperse to their allotted area. After receiving a negative response from the protesters, the police went ahead and arrested ten people from the group.
Fortunately, the authorities have set the right example when it comes to dealing with anti-social elements, no matter how noble their cause might seem. Though the arrests might have instilled confidence in the stakeholders, the concerned authorities might have to beef up security during the race weekend to prevent or address any similar activity.
