Miami F1 News: Sergio Perez Summoned To Steward For The Craziest Reason

Sergio Perez has been summoned to the Stewards after the Miami Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez has been summoned to the Stewards office after the Miami Grand Prix.

A letter was released by the stewards stating that the Mexican driver was to visit their office for "late attendance to the pre-race drivers' parade".

Instead of the usual start to the grand prix, Miami brought a different set-up with the drivers being announced one by one by LL Cool J in what was called the drivers' parade.

The stewards believe Perez was late to this, however, as this has not happened before it is unclear what any punishments for this would be. The letter states:

"The driver and team representative are required to report to the Stewards at 18:15 in relation to the incident below.

"Alleged breach of Article 19.4 b of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations - Late attendance of the pre-race drivers' parade."

The Red Bull driver finished the race in second place after starting from pole position and a great battle with his teammate Max Verstappen who took the win from ninth.

The battle between the two Red Bull drivers is hotting up with Perez's wins last weekend in Azerbaijan and Verstappen extending his lead today. So it will be interesting to see if any reprimand for this tardiness will affect the standings.

More information should be released after the meeting which takes place in just over half an hour.
