Red Bull F1 News: Sergio Perez Is Perfect for the Seat Right Now - Says Analyst

Red Bull faces a pivotal decision as the 2025 Formula One season approaches, with Sergio Pérez's contract under the spotlight. While Max Verstappen, sporting the number '1', continues to dominate the grid with three wins out of four races this season, the role of his teammate remains crucial. Pérez, numbered '11', currently holds second place in the drivers' standings, consistently finishing just behind Verstappen and amassing 64 points to his name.

Christian Horner, the team principal, has recently commended Pérez’s efforts.

"He is doing what he has to do," stated Horner, signaling a nod of approval towards Pérez's performance and potentially hinting at a continued partnership.

The Mexican driver's current objective is not to only secure podium finishes but also to complement the team dynamics, particularly alongside Verstappen. His ability to challenge yet not overshadow the lead driver has contributed significantly to Red Bull’s strategy on track, a balance that is crucial for team harmony and success.

Analyst and former F1 driver Martin Brundle further elaborates on Pérez's value to the team. According to Brundle, Pérez brings a blend of reliability, speed, and experience that is ideal for Red Bull's current needs.

"I think commercially it is very useful for Red Bull to have Sergio Pérez in the car. He has a lot of experience, he is not one of those who frequently crashes into the protections. And it doesn't really bother Max. He is fast enough to keep Max alert, but not to bother him. He is the perfect pilot in that seat at the moment," Brundle commented. Moreover, Brundle points out that Pérez's continued presence in the Red Bull cockpit is well-justified.

"There's a reason why Checo has been in that car for so long, and it's because he suits Red Bull and what they need right now. And I don't think that's changed, unless they think there is someone else who can take advantage of the opportunity," he added.

Internally, the sentiment within Red Bull appears to lean positively towards Pérez. The team’s top brass and the pit crew value his contributions and the stability he brings to the team dynamics. In a sport where the interplay between team members can be as crucial as the performance of the car itself, having a driver like Pérez, who is not prone to errors and maintains a low profile with the media, is a real asset.
