Saudi Arabian GP Results: Max Verstappen Wins In Jeddah

The results of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix under the lights of the Jeddah circuit. Joining the Red Bull driver on the podium were his teammate Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc who crossed the line in second and third place, respectively.

Lap 1: Pierre Gasly was forced to retire his Alpine A524 after reporting gearbox issues on the formation lap.

Ollie Bearman, who is standing in for Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari, had a fantastic start on his F1 debut. Starting from 11th on the grid, he remained in position on the opening laps and was putting in some moves to make overtake attempts.

George Russell was heard telling his Mercedes team that Lando Norris had a false start, however, this has not been clarified by the Stewards yet.

Lap 7: Lance Stroll clipped the wall at Turn 21 and subsequently crashed into the barrier at Turn 22. The Canadian driver was thankfully okay and walked away from the crash. A safety car was then brought out leading to a flurry of early pitstops.

Lap 15: The Stewards decided no further action was needed for Norris' race start.

Penalty: However, bad news for Sergio Perez who was handed a five second penalty for an unsafe release in the pit lane. (Lap 15)

Penalty: Kevin Magnussen was handed a ten-second penalty for causing a collision with Alex Albon. The Danish driver did not give Albon enough space at Turn 4 leaving damage to the latter's front wing. (Lap 15)

Penalty: Lap 22- Magnussen is handed another 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage on Yuki Tsunoda.

Lap 30: Yuki Tsunoda almost got past Magnussen in the fight for 12th but the Haas driver didn't give up easy and took the place back straight away. Making the most of the battle in front of him, Esteban Ocon took the opportunity to overtake Tsunoda as well.

Lap 34: Albon was next to overtake Tsunoda as the battle towards the back of the grid intensified.

Lap 42: Sauber suffered from yet another horrific pit stop. After Bottas had a 52 second stop in Bahrain, Guanyu now stops for an excruciating amount of time.

Lap 49: Daniel Ricciardo had a spin out at the back of the pack but thankfully is able to avoid colliding with the wall and gets back to racing before causing issues for the rest of the grid.
