Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have been compared after a sports reporter hit out at the latter for ignoring him and his son in a restaurant and would not give an autograph.

Although many fans were quick to criticise the journalist as the Mexican driver was in a private moment with his family, others have taken the opportunity to compare Perez to his Red Bull teammate Verstappen.

The reporter's post read:

"Thanks to @SChecoPerez for ignoring and turning your back on my son when they were leaving the restaurant. Incredulous, I approached you to ask if you could take a picture with him and you denied it saying that you came with your family. This time the tears you provoked were not from emotion.

"The child waited for them to finish and leave so as not to be impertinent, what a pity it bothers you when a child asks you for a photo, although you have every right to deny it @SChecoPerez.

"By the way, the garbage on the table is collected. Education is also taught and learned as a family."

Another fan responded with photos of Verstappen taking a selfie with a young fan as well as former champion Kimi Raikkonen posing with a fan. They wrote, hitting out at Perez and making a sly dig to his run in with Verstappen at the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix:

"Something so simple, effortless and means a lot to a fan. So, quoting Pérez himself "he showed his true colours, who he really is"."

Another Twitter user shared some other photos of Verstappen with fans out and about, writing:

"Lol to everyone saying 'but Max is in the paddock..' Max does take time for the little ones when he's at a restaurant with friends and family" [sic]
