Memphis Showboats, Houston Roughnecks Add Offensive Tackles

The Showboats and Roughnecks each signed offensive tackles, with Memphis bringing in James Tunstall and Houston getting Cam Carter.

The Memphis Showboats and Houston Roughnecks each made moves to shore up their offensive lines. On Wednesday, the Roughnecks signed offensive tackle Cam Carter and the Showboats signed offensive tackle James Tunstall.

Carter was waived by the Birmingham Stallions two weeks ago as the team made room for quarterback Matt Corral and linebacker DeMarquis Gates.

Carter started nine games with the USFL's New Jersey Generals last year. He helped pave the way for the best rushing offense in the league, with New Jersey averaging 134.2 rushing yards per game — 18 yards more than the second-place team. The Generals had him on the offensive line in 2022 as well.

Carter played his college ball at Murray State from 2016 through 2019, starting 21 games in 2017 and 2018.

Tunstall is coming off a stint with the Miami Dolphins on their practice squad after being released in September. He was a Second-Team All-AAC selection at left tackle in 2022 with the Cincinnati Bearcats after starting his college career with Stony Brook and Connecticut.

The Showboats and Roughnecks open the UFL season playing against each other on Sunday, March 31 at 3 pm ET on ESPN.
