Tyler Anderson Could Make Angels History on Sunday

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Anderson is on the cusp of making some history within the organization. Heading into his start on Sunday, Anderson has thrown 14 straight innings without allowing a run. The record for the Angels is 16, which was set by Nolan Ryan in 1978.

So if Anderson goes the first three innings without allowing a run, he will stand alone in Angels history.

"Left-hander Tyler Anderson needs to start with three scoreless innings Sunday to break the Angels record for most consecutive scoreless innings by a starting pitcher to begin a season. Anderson has not allowed a run in 14 innings. Nolan Ryan didn’t allow a run in his first 16 innings in 1978."

Anderson has been lights out through his first two starts this year. After a poor 2023 season, it looks like the Angels may be getting the player that they thought he was when they signed him during the winter of 2022.

With the Angels being more competitive this season, they knew they needed their starters to thrive. Anderson has stepped up massively so far and if he can continue his strong production, the Halos may be able to keep surprising people this year.
