Angels Hire Fan Favorite As Special Assistant to the General Manager
The Los Angeles Angels have announced they have hired former outfielder and All-Star Torii Hunter as a Special Assistant to General Manager.
The team announced the news on Saturday.
The five-time All-Star will join Kurt Suzuki, Eddie Guardado, and Chris Carpenter as Special Assistants to the General Manager.
Hunter will help assist Angels general manager Perry Minasian. The 48-year-old has front-office experience. He has previously worked for the Minnesota Twins as a Special Assistant, Baseball Operations since Nov. 2016.
The five-time All-Star played for five years in Orange County from 2008-12. In his tenure as a Halo, he was named a two-time Gold Glove winner, two-time All-Star, and a silver slugger in 2009.
Hunter joined the Halos in the 2008-09 offseason and signed a four-year contract worth $90 million. He was also a member of the 2008 and 2009 AL West Championship teams. Hunter is now back with the team in a role just as important.
