Angels AL West Rival Reportedly Among Shohei Ohtani's Preferred Landing Spots

Losing Ohtani to this divsion rival would be brutal

The winter of Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is officially underway, and at the moment, there is no traction on the storyline.

It could be weeks, heck, maybe even months, before the former Halos superstar decides where he wants to take his talents. At the moment, the Halos don't have the best odds to retain the 28-year-old, but you never know.

Many teams are in the running for the Japanese sensation. Although that is the case, there is only a handful who are serious contenders, including the Angels' division rival and World Series champions, Texas Rangers.

According to the New York Post, Ohtani's three preferred landing spots including the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and the Angels AL West rival Rangers.

It would be almost unfair and cruel if the World Series champions were to turn around and get arguably the greatest baseball player of all time and the most coveted free agent this sport has ever seen.

Ohtani leaving the Halos would be brutal, but heading to a division rival would be absolute torture. The thought of seeing Ohtani on the opposite end for 13 meetings a year would be crushing for the Halos and their fans.

Of course, the Halos cannot do anything on that front but put up a fight to retain Ohtani, but at the end of the day, it is on him.

What does Ohtani priotrize? Is it all about the money? Does he want to be comfortable, or does he want to win?

It's all a mystery right now, and that may remain the issue for the time being.
