Angels, Giants Competing To Sign Superstar According To Insider

It sounds like the Angels could end up landing one of the best pitchers in baseball

The Los Angeles Angels have had a difficult offseason but could have one major move up their sleeve.

Los Angeles lost Shohei Ohtani in free agency and now is looking for a new ace to help lead its rotation. Somehow there still are two marquee hurlers out there who could help, Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery.

The Angels have been linked to Snell on multiple occasions this offseason and although a deal hasn't gotten done yet, Los Angeles still could finalize one. The Angels and San Francisco Giants are seen as the two most likely options for Snell, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"(Major League Baseball) team executives widely believe that two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell will ultimately sign with the Los Angeles Angels or possibly the San Francisco Giants, while Texas Rangers’ postseason hero Jordan Montgomery will wind up with the Boston Red Sox," Nightengale said. "The Red Sox have kept in constant contact with Montgomery while the Rangers are keeping tabs if owner Ray Davis suddenly changes his mind."

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today

Snell would be the perfect addition for the Angels at this point. His price tag likely won't be as high as many expected it to be entering the offseason. With each passing day, he remains available, his asking price could drop.

If it falls to a range that the Angels are comfortable with, he would be the perfect pickup. Los Angeles needs another top-of-the-rotation hurler and Snell certainly fits that description.
