Angels Highlights: Watch Mike Trout Hit First Home Run of 2024 in Split-Squad Game

It's a home run for 2024.

It's the first home run for Mike Trout in 2024!

With the Los Angeles Angels splitting up the team for their two split-squad games on Wednesday, Trout notched his first home run of the season against the Oakland A's in grand slam fashion. Trout's grand slam brought the Angels to five runs on the day.

That grand slam was the primary highlight of the day for the Angels, who wound up losing 12-5 to the A's. The A's absolutely dominated, recording 17 hits, 12 runs, 10 RBIs and three home runs. The Angels only struck out the A's batters four times.

It was a rough start for pitcher Patrick Sandoval, who threw 2.2 innings and allowed six hits, four earned runs and two home runs. He got just one strikeout and finished with a 7.71 ERA.

In the Angels' second game of the day, they fell to the Chicago Cubs, 6-5. Jake Marsinick, Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak each recorded an RBI. Adell had two runs and Marsinick, Kyren Paris and Chad Wallach each had a run.

In Luis Rengifo's first Spring Training game of 2024, he was struck out once in two at-bats.

Reid Detmers pitched three innings in his start on Wednesday. He notched six strikeouts, and allowed just one earned run.

Overall, this was far from the best the Angels have looked this spring. The Angels will have Thursday off from game action, before returning Friday to host the Colorado Rockies.
