Angels News: Anthony Rendon Seems Sick and Tired of Always Being Injured

The Halos' $245 million man doesn't like being injured.

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon has missed more time for the Halos than he's played.

In his four-year career in Anaheim, Rendon has only played in 200 games out of a possible 546 games. Whether it's his hip, wrist, or fractured shin, Rendon has missed a ton of time on the diamond.

One way or another, he seems to miss an extended period. However, you shouldn't get the impression he likes being injured.

Rendon spoke with the media at spring training (including OC Register's Jeff Flecther) and said he doesn't like to be injured.

“I don’t want to have surgeries,” said Rendon, who had surgery in 2021 and 2022, but not 2023. “You think I like going under the knife and being in pain the majority of my time? I can’t even pick up my kids. I can’t walk. You think I enjoy that? I don’t want to do that. I want to hang out with my kids. I want to teach them how to ride a bike, but I can’t. I can’t walk. It sucks.”

Rendon doesn't like being injured; however, he never mentioned anything about letting his teammates and the fanbase down.

In his defense, who does like dealing with injuries? Still, his lack of enthusiasm for baseball is not what you want to hear from your highest-paid player.

The Angels want their third baseman to be healthy. They want him to do well and earn his money. Through four seasons, that has not been the case.

Hopefully, he can stay healthy in 2024 and maybe show he cares somewhat about the game he gets paid to play. Injuries suck, and hopefully, there's less of them for the $245 million man.
