Recently Released Angels Pitcher Finds New Home With Dodgers

Former Angels relief pitcher Drew Pomeranz won't have to move far from Anaheim if he is promoted to the big leagues.

According to Oklahoma City broadcaster Alex Freedman, the Dodgers have signed Pomeranz to a minor league deal.

The Halos released Pomeranz on March 24. He signed a minor league deal with the club on Feb. 14. The left-handed pitcher has suffered injuries these last handful of years, particularly in his second stint with the San Diego Padres.

When healthy, Pomeranz has proven useful as a relief pitcher. His last 72 appearances have seen Pomeranz throw 70.2 innings and allow only 18 runs (16 earned), a 2.05 ERA.

Pomeranz signed a four-year deal with the Friars in 2019 but hasn't pitched since 2021. Since 2022, he was unavailable to pitch due to rehab from flexor tendon surgery. Ultimately, he became a free agent after the 2023 season and thought he found a new home with the Halos.

He's finally healthy in 2024, and we'll see if he makes his presence felt with the Dodgers organization.
