Bo Bichette is back, again.

The Blue Jays activated the star shortstop off the injured list on Friday, returning Bichette from a quad injury ahead of Friday's game against the Royals. Mason McCoy was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Bichette hasn't played since August 27th after leaving a game against the Guardians with quad tightness. The shortstop has been on and off the IL twice in the last month, playing just eight games since the trade deadline. The Jays are 15-11 without Bichette in the lineup this season.

The shortstop's return should bring an offensive boost to a Toronto team fighting for its playoff life. The Jays entered a weekend series against the Royals a half-game up on the Rangers for the American League's final wild-card position. Toronto sits two games back of Seattle for the second WC seed.

When healthy, Bichette has been Toronto's best hitter, and arguably best player, this season. He's hitting .314 with 18 homers and an .831 OPS in 114 games, so far. In his brief time with the Jays, McCoy made his major league debut as a 28-year-old rookie. He played in six games, had one plate appearance, and registered two runs.
