Reinforcements are on the way.

Bo Bichette headlines a trio of Blue Jays heading out on rehab assignment with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday. Relievers Trevor Richards and Chad Green will also join the Bisons on rehab.

Bichette has been out since July 31st with right patellar tendinitis in his knee. He's expected to DH for the Bisons on Tuesday, play in the field on Wednesday, and could return to the Blue Jays on Friday if all goes well on rehab.

While Paul DeJong and Santiago Espinal have manned shortstop in his absence, Bichette is arguably the Blue Jays' most valuable player this season. The 25-year-old leads the American League in hits, on pace to do so for the third-straight season, while posting a .321 average and .847 OPS.

Richards (neck) will pitch for the first time since August 1st, coming out of the Bisons bullpen. Green, who suffered a concussion when he was hit in the head by a throw last week, has restarted his rehab clock after coming back from Tommy John surgery. Both relievers are expected to throw for the Bisons on Tuesday night and could join the Blue Jays MLB 'pen shortly.

Outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (elbow) is also close to a return and is eligible to come off the IL on Friday. He will soon get the stitches removed from his arm injury, suffered after hitting a fence in Boston, but likely won't need a rehab assignment.
