Danny Jansen was placed on the 10-day injured list, the Blue Jays announced before Tuesday's game.

The Blue Jays catcher suffered the injury after sliding head-first into third base during Sunday's loss to the Houston Astros. Reese McGuire replaced him behind the dish to start the fourth inning.

It's been a tough start to the 2021 season for Jansen. He's slashing .157/.248/.526 through 42 games.

In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays recalled catcher Riley Adams from Triple-A.

Adams -- who was called up to Toronto on May 2, but sent back down before he could play a game -- will start at catcher and bat ninth in his MLB debut against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Adams slashed .250/.410/.600 in 78 plate appearances at Triple-A. The 24-year-old showed some serious power, hitting six homeruns in just 19 games. He'll look to add some much-needed pop to a Blue Jays catcher spot that's been very weak offensively.
