The Chicago Cubs have had an impressive start to the 2024 season, sitting at 6-3 with wins over impressive teams. Starting the season with two of the first three series against the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers isn't an easy task, but the Cubs have competed and even won the series against the Dodgers.

Offensively, this team has shown up in the first nine games of the season. It was a concern heading into the year, but Chicago has put those worries to rest with impressive play and should continue to do so moving forward. Everything has gone well besides the Justin Steele injury, and he's expected to return at some point in the next month or two.

MLB.com's Will Leitch has been impressed with their play, moving them up three spots to No. 9 in the latest power rankings. Leitch writes that the Cubs have played well to start the season and since there's no one in the National League Central under .500, it's "hidden" how well they've played.

Leitch's assessment of Chicago is accurate and so is his ranking, which has them as the top team in the NL Central.

The 8-1 win against Los Angeles capped off an impressive week for the team, beating the best team in baseball. Shota Imanaga had another great start, throwing 10.0 innings in two starts and not allowing an earned run.

It's a long season for the Cubs, but they've played well and it's a promising sign as they look to get back to the postseason.
