The Diamondbacks made a pair of minor league signings this week, signing second baseman Kolten Wong and right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood. Wong and Chatwood will play with the D-backs' Triple-A affiliate in Reno. Both signings are listed on the team's transaction tracker.

Wong, 33, was formerly a first round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 MLB Draft. He's carved out a nice career, with a .256/.330/.390 slash line in just under 1200 games with the Cardinals, Brewers, Mariners, and Dodgers. Wong faced the D-backs in the 2023 National League Divisional Series, going 0-for-3 with a walk in four trips to the plate. He's been close to a league-average hitter for much of his career, with a park-adjusted OPS+ of 96, but has accumulated 22.0 bWAR on the strength of his glove and baserunning. Wong has won two Gold Gloves at second with the Cardinals, taking it back-to-back seasons in 2019 and 2020.

Chatwood, 34, is a former second rounder in the 2008 draft but is most remembered from his time with the Rockies. In Colorado, he pitched to a 4.18 ERA in 103 games (88 starts). Considering the tough environment for pitchers at Coors Field, that is a park-adjusted ERA+ of 114. Chatwood has not appeared in a major league game since the 2021 season, although he landed minor league deals with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the D-backs last season. He pitched in five games with Reno last season, with an ERA of 1.69 in 5 1/3 innings before getting released in late August.
