Alek Thomas Heads Growing List of D-backs Infirmities

Torey Lovullo gave health updates today, the most concerning being Thomas

Torey Lovullo spoke to the media just before today's spring training game against the Texas Rangers. The most important topics covered were health updates for various Diamondbacks players.

Alek Thomas, Right Wrist Inflammation

Thomas has been dealing with right wrist soreness. Yesterday he had an MRI on the wrist that showed inflammation but no structural damage. Lovullo said that Thomas would be shut down from swinging a bat for least three more days.

Joc Pederson, Personal

Pederson was scratched from today's lineup due to undisclosed personal reasons. He is not at the facility this afternoon.  Louvllo said he would be gone for two to three days.

Randall Grichuk, Bone Spurs

There is still no specific timetable for Grichuk to resume full baseball activities. He had surgery in January to remove bone spurs from his heel. He has begun some light batting cage work. Lovullo said when he is able to play in games he would start out at DH.

These various injuries open more early spring training playing time to players such as Jake McCarthy, Jorge Barrosa, and A.J. Vukovich. These will be critical opportunities for all of them if any are going to be able to crack the Opening Day roster.
