Torey Lovullo Holds Zoom Meetings with Players

The D-backs Manager had Zoom exit-interviews with the players to prepare them for the off-season.

Still feeling the results of the Arizona Diamondbacks' World Series' lost to the Texas Rangers, Manager Torey Lovullo took some time decompress. He let the players decompress as well before talking to them about their off-season and the next steps each of them would take to become better ballplayers. These are called exit interviews. They are exactly what they sound like. The manager gives a rundown on how their season went, what their goals are for the off-season, and how to get ready for the next season. Plus, it allows the manager to spend some one-on-one time with each of their returning players.

When asked about why the D-backs waited so late into the off-season to do their exit interviews/Zoom calls, Lovullo said that "we weren't going to have any conversations until our season was officially over because...signifies the end...We never felt that way nor do we want our players to feel that way...I told them I would be in touch with them very soon regarding the Zoom interaction being used as their one-on-one exit meeting. They all went great. The meetings were unbelievable."

These meetings were about "what we wanted to get accomplished through those meetings. And it is about what are you going to do to rest, recover, and then also get ready?". Basically, it was to help each player figure out their season and how to prepare for Spring Training. After all, Spring Training is less than two months away for pitchers and catchers.

Speaking to that quick turnaround that the players and coaches will be experiencing, Lovullo said "we've earned that right to say that things are just a little bit out of whack, but we have to have a process and a plan to keep moving that thing forward so we know what to do to get ready for a very healthy 2024."

They definitely did earn the right after their surprising march to the World Series as the No. 6 seed in the National League playoffs. However, Lovullo has been sure to remind the players that they shouldn't forget that they haven't reached their final destination which is a World Series trophy and ring.
