Things have not been normal to start the season for the Miami Marlins and that has been reflected in consistently dropping in power rankings.

They aren't in last place yet, but have fallen a step closer in the most recent MLB.com power rankings.

At No. 29 overall, here is what Will Leitch had to say about the Marlins:

"The Marlins have found all sorts of crazy ways to lose ballgames this year. Sunday’s loss, in which they had the Braves down to their final strike, might have been the roughest one yet. It’s not just bad luck, though; they have the second-worst run differential in baseball."

The Marlins have fallen to a 3-13 start on the season as they prepare to start their series against the San Francisco Giants.

The Marlins were able to avoid sweeps against both the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves, which is something to be happy about. They should have won another game against the Braves, which would have had the vibes around the organization at least a little bit better.

The Marlins, as a team, are in the bottom-five in home runs, hits, walks drawn and on-base plus slugging percentage.

To make matters worse: one of their best bats has hit the injury list. Jake Burger, 28, left the game early on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. He has now been placed on the 10-day injured list.

They had the emergence of young pitcher Max Meyer, who had looked like their best pitcher, but immediately squandered the excitement by sending him back down to Triple-A.
