The Miami Marlins weren't able to walk away with a win against the New York Yankees, but the defense can hold their heads up high as they came up with a couple of great plays against the team's former star player.

The Marlins defense hasn't been off to a great start this season, but this was a nice game for the group. If they can play like this while the offense is on, things could get fun in Miami.

Giancarlo Stanton has to be frustrated as he had multiple runs batted in taken away from him against his former team.

The first one was a play at the plate after a hard hit ground ball. Emmanuel Rivera charged it and threw it to Christian Bethancourt as the pitcher completed the tag on Juan Soto.

The Marlins were able to escape the inning without giving up a run.

The second play was Bryan De La Cruz making a nice leaping grab at the wall to keep a runner from scoring off of what looked to be a bomb from Stanton (unlucky day for him).

De La Cruz is quietly on his way to a solid season among the Marlins slow overall start. If he can up the power he's finding at the plate, he could have a season to be proud of.

No one involved in these plays has been off to a great start defensively this season, so they should use this as a motivational tool to help with the effort on that side of the ball.
