MLB National Writer Predicts A Different Type Season For The Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins are off to an 0-4 start of the 2024 MLB Season.

While it couldn't have gone much worse for Miami regarding the overall record, they were able to find some offense. Allowing at least six runs in all four games so far is a much larger concern. There was a lot of speculation and discussion about Miami's run last year due to what they were able to do in one-run games, this year, a national writer is obviously concerned.

Will Leitch of MLB.com wrote one Opening Weekend takeaway for every MLB team. When he got to the Miami Marlins, he said that repeating what they did in 2023 would be tough.

"The Marlins made the playoffs last year in large part because of their 33-14 record in one-run games and their 7-3 record in extra-inning games. In their four straight losses to the Pirates to begin this season, they’ve lost one of each of those departments: A one-run loss in the opener and an extra-inning loss on Sunday," Leitch wrote. "They were also 46-35 at home last year, but so far, they’re 0-4."

Fortunately for the Miami Marlins, a one-weekend sample size in March doesn't mean much for the entire season but the inability to keep runs off the board will be a problem. Perhaps once the pitching staff gets healthy after a string of bad luck during Spring Training, Miami could pick up some positive momentum.

Another positive for the Marlins is that other than the Atlanta Braves, the NL East seems to be off to a slow start.
