Nationals Pummel New Dad Andrew Heaney, Texas Rangers

In this story:
Andrew Heaney returned to the Texas Rangers and just didn’t have it, as the Washington Nationals scored an easy 8-3 win Saturday afternoon at Nationals Park.
The Rangers (52-38) have one game left before an All-Star break that can’t come soon enough. Texas is 2-3 on the current road trip going into the series finale with Washington (35-54) and only 3-7 in the last 10 games.
The one saving grace is the Rangers will go into the pause for the Midsummer Classic in first place over the Houston Astros in the American League West regardless of what happens Sunday.
Heaney was back with the club after being on paternity leave for the birth of his twin daughters Eleanor and Olivia with his wife Jordan. The first-time father didn’t have it, surrendering three home runs as the Nationals raced out to an 8-0 lead after three innings before a significant rain delay.
Heaney dropped to 5-6.
The Rangers did get on the board after play resumed thanks to Josh Jung’s two-run homer in the fourth, scoring Adolis García.
The rubber match of the series starts Sunday at 11:05 a.m. with Dane Dunning (8-1, 2.61) going for Texas and Patrick Corbin (5-10, 5.13) getting the nod for Washington.
