The Reds beat the Athletics 15-8 on Monday afternoon.

The game started very quickly for the Athletics. Estuary Ruiz hit a double and Darrell Hernaiz singled and scored a run.

Andrew Abbott gave up three runs early, but settled down and picked up four-straight outs.

The Reds first score came in the first inning as TJ Friedl continued his dominant stretch, walking and stealing the following two bases and scoring off of a ground out from Spencer Steer. Christian Encarnacion-Strand hit a two-run bomb as the equalizer shot to tie the game in the second inning.

Noelvi Marte did get a hit in this game making it back-to-back games with a hit and that’s particularly solid as he has only competed in two games this far due to a hamstring injury. Friedl was then hit by a pitch to move Marte to second and put him on first.

Elly De La Cruz came up to the plate and tripled. It was a huge moment for the Reds as both Marte and Friedl scored to move the score to 8-7 with De La Cruz on third.

The inning was looking promising after Steer walked and stole second. Jake Fraley also walked to load the bases. Jeimer Candelario then reached on a fielder choice. De La Cruz and Steer scored and Fraley moved up to third.

Tyler Stephenson hit a sacrifice fly to score Fraley and move Candelario to third. The Reds scored another base runner after a wild pitch and a Will Benson walk.

Benson also advanced to second on the play. Encarnacion-Strand continued his amazing day with a triple that scored Benson to extend the lead to 12-8.

The Athletics' awful inning ended after pinch hitter Rece Hinds flew out. The Reds changed the course of this game in one amazing inning as the score extended to 15-8. They scored 10 runs in the fifth, which is by far the most of the spring.

Buck Farmer made an appearance in this game. He held a scoreless inning despite giving up a two-out double to Max Muncy.

Fernando Cruz made an appearance in the seventh after a single inning from Farmer and had a dominant showcase. Two strikeouts and a 1-2-3 inning for the Reds.

Conner Phillips was then the pitcher of choice as he proceeded to hold a scoreless inning.

The Reds are 5-4 this spring following the win.
