76ers vs. Nets: KJ Martin's Playing Status Downgraded

The Sixers forward returns to the injury report against the Nets.

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will wrap up their short two game road trip with a match against the Brooklyn Nets, who proved to be too much for them in their last meeting.

The Nets' match comes two days after the Sixers traveled to the American Airlines Center, where they took down Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

While Tyrese Maxey was the focal point of the match, balling out against his home town team, dropping 24 points, Tobias Harris proved to be too much for Jason Kidd's side.

The 31-year-old showed why he is the rightful third head of the Sixers' trio, scoring 28 points on 57 percent shooting, which was enough to put Philadelphia clear of Dallas by four points when all was said and done.

While the two Sixers' starters had themselves a day, the same could be said for Kelly Oubre Jr, who contributed 21 points off of the bench, showing that Nick Nurse's rotation shuffle isn't the worst thing for the team.

One player who was a minor feature in Sunday's match was KJ Martin, who only saw four minutes of game time in which he failed to register a single shot, only recording one steal against the Mavericks.

Granted this minor role shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that Martin was put on Philadelphia's injury report prior to the match due to an impingement in his right knee.

It is the same issue that keeps the 23-year-old on the injury report, being once again listed as questionable prior to tip-off against the Nets on Tuesday night.

The impingement issue is nothing new for Martin, as it was the same issue which kept him out of a few games earlier on in the month.

While Martin didn't have the biggest role in his first match against the Nets earlier on in the season, he put up 11 points and four rebounds in their second meeting in early February.

If Martin is to be out on Tuesday night, he'll join De'Anthony Melton, Robert Covington, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid on the bench, while Cameron Payne's playing status also remains uncertain hours ahead of the match.

The Sixers will look to take a firm lead in the season series against their division rivals after they were rocked by 15 points in their last meeting.

Philadelphia and Brooklyn are set to face off on Tuesday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
