Bulls' Price Tag for Andre Drummond Trade With 76ers Revealed
Leading up to last week's trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers were connected to a handful of players in rumors. One of them was a former player, whom the team reportedly thought they had a trade completed for before falling through. NBA insider Michael Scotto recently detailed the entire situation.
In a column for HoopsHype, Scotto touched on the Sixers nearly acquiring Andre Drummond at the trade deadline. A deal was in place, centered around multiple second-round picks. However, the Chicago Bulls ended up pulling out in the final hour before things could get finalized.
"The 76ers believed they had a trade done to acquire Bulls center Andre Drummond before Chicago pulled out of talks hours before the deadline, league sources told HoopsHype. The Bulls wanted three second-round picks for Drummond, league sources said."
After this deal fell apart, the Sixers never made any upgrades at the center position. Paul Reed and Mo Bamba will be called on to hold things down until Joel Embiid is able to return from his knee injury.
Drummond, 30, spent half a season with the Sixers in 2022. He was eventually shipped to the Brooklyn Nets alongside Ben Simmons and Seth Curry in the James Harden trade.
Since then, Drummond has joined the Chicago Bulls. The former All-Star has thrived in his role as a backup to Nikola Vucevic. This season, Drummond is averaging 8.1 PPG and 8.6 RPG.
Drummond would have been a big addition for the Sixers, given their current circumstances. He is someone who is still capable of playing starters minutes and could have lessened Joel Embiid's load through the rest of the season.
