Former Executive Calls 76ers’ Tobias Harris to Action

Bob Meyers wants to see more from Sixers veteran amid recent injury woes.

With the Philadelphia 76ers being tasked to fill the void left by Joel Embiid, production is needed up and down the roster. Tyrese Maxey has stepped up in a big way to be "the guy" in his absence, but one player alone cannot replace what the reigning MVP provided on both ends.

During halftime of the Sixers' matchup with the Dallas Mavericks, former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Meyers discussed this issue for the Sixers. Among the players he called on to step up more is Tobias Harris. The veteran forward has proven he's capable of doing more, but has faced some cold spells throughout the season.

"Tobias Harris needs to do more of this for them to stay out of that play-in 7-10 range," Meyers said. "He's capable, and why he don't talk about him enough is he'll do this one night and then the night he won't do it...He's certainly capable. He's a good player, but they're going to need him to do that."

Harris must have heard these remarks, as he dazzled again in Sunday's win against Dallas. He logged 35 minutes and finished with 28 points and five rebounds on near 58% shooting from the floor.

Based on his recent performances, Harris looks to be turning things around again. Against the Charlotte Hornets, he tallied 31 points and 12 rebounds in a win. On the road against Brooklyn, Harris scored 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

It takes a collective to replace someone like Embiid, but Harris is one of the key players the Sixers need to be able to rely on. The team might need a hot streak from him now more than ever as Maxey is currently dealing with concussion-like symptoms.
