Knicks Forward Expected to Make Return vs Sixers

New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby could return against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

After battling it out in a low-scoring affair on Sunday, the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks are slated to face off again on Tuesday. Following recent developments, the Knicks will be getting a key starter back in this rematch.

Earlier in the year, New York made a big splash by trading for OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors. Things initially went well, until he suffered an elbow injury that required a medical procedure.

Anunoby has been out of action since the end of January, but that is expected to come to an end. Shams Charania reported Monday afternoon that the Knicks forward will make his return against the Sixers.

Anunoby appeared in 14 games for the Knicks before being injured. During that stretch, he averaged 15.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 1.8 SPG.

Even with Anunoby making a comeback, the Knicks are still without two other starters. Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson have both missed extended time due to different injuries.

The Knicks aren't the only team that is reportedly getting reinforcements for this matchup. Reports came out earlier today that Tyrese Maxey has cleared concussion protocol and will also be making his return to the lineup.

Tuesday will be the final matchup between these two teams, and has major playoff implications. The Sixers and Knicks are both in the thick of the Eastern Conference standings in the final weeks of the season. New York enters Tuesday in fourth place with a 37-27 record. The Sixers aren't far behind them in sixth place at 36-28.
