Sixers’ Key Veteran Remains on Injury Report vs. Clippers on Wednesday

Kelly Oubre's playing status against the Clippers is in question.

With the Los Angeles Clippers coming to town, the Philadelphia 76ers anticipate a possible absence from their veteran guard, Kelly Oubre.

According to the team’s injury report, Oubre is questionable for the matchup on Wednesday. As he continues to deal with lingering left shoulder soreness, Oubre could miss his second game in a row, depending on the team’s final call for his playing status.

Oubre’s latest setback is a new development for the two-way standout. As the team entered its Monday night matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the Sixers added Oubre to the injury report hours before the game was set to tip.

Although the Sixers left the door open for Oubre to avoid finding himself downgraded to out, he ended up getting the night off. In a game where the Sixers didn’t get much help beyond their All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, Oubre’s often-reliable scoring could’ve offered a boost.

The Sixers dropped the second matchup of their back-to-back set out in California, falling with a 12-point loss against the Kings.

Lately, Oubre’s been back in the starting lineup for the Sixers. Since he collected a start against the New Orleans Pelicans on March 8, the veteran remained in the starting five for the team’s next eight games. During that stretch, Oubre averaged 33 minutes on the floor, producing an average of 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block per game.

As the Sixers look to avoid falling into a two-game hole, they could certainly use the services of the veteran guard. If Oubre can’t get the nod to play on Wednesday, it would mark the first time he will miss consecutive games for Philadelphia since his 11-game absence due to a fractured rib. At the time, Oubre went out on November 12, and returned on December 6.

Since then, the veteran has missed just three games for Philadelphia.

The Sixers and the Clippers are set to battle it out at 7:30 PM ET on Wednesday.
