Sixers Forward Explains Confidence Before NBA Play-In Tournament

Philadelphia 76ers veteran Tobias Harris touches on the team's confidence heading into the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Due to a litany of injuries in the second half of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers saw themselves slightly dip in the Eastern Conference standings. Following their victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, they ended the regular season in seventh place.

Since they weren’t able to finish in the top six, the Sixers now have to go through the play-in tournament to earn a spot in the postseason. On Wednesday, they’ll host Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. The winner of that matchup will be the No. 7 seed and face the New York Knicks in round one.

Following their win on Sunday afternoon, Tobias Harris was asked about the Sixers’ mindset heading into the play-in. They understand how things unfolded for them this year, and are feeling confident as they prepare to take on Miami.

“We’re confident, we know what’s at stake here,” Harris said postgame. “We obviously understand where we’re at right now and all we’re looking forward to is our next opponent and win and go forward into the playoffs.”

Harris managed to end the regular season on a high note, putting together a strong outing against the Nets. He finished the game with 21 points and eight rebounds on a stellar 53.3% shooting.

The Sixers are going to have their hands full Wednesday with Miami, as they have experience in the Play-In Tournament. These teams split the season series, each winning two games. They most recently squared off at the beginning of April in Joel Embiid’s second game back from injury. Tyrese Maxey had a near triple-double effort as the Sixers took down Miami by a score of 109-105.
