Damian Lillard is on track to return on Thursday for the Milwaukee Bucks’ much-anticipated showdown against the Boston Celtics. For personal reasons, the seven-time All-Star missed Milwaukee’s last game versus the Utah Jazz—a 132-116 loss. His return is great news for the Bucks, who have been struggling as of late with a 1-4 record in their last five games.

In good spirits

According to Milwaukee coach Adrian Griffin, the veteran guard moved around well and will play on Thursday when the Bucks host the best team in the Eastern Conference.

"Dame was back, in good spirits and able to practice...He'll be available (tomorrow)," Griffin said.

The 11-year veteran is a huge reason the Bucks are among the highest-scoring teams in the NBA, as he averages 25.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. However, Lillard has struggled to be efficient on the floor, as he’s shooting only 42 percent from the field, including 35 percent from beyond the arc.

Bucks backup guard Cam Payne is probable to play

Additionally, the player backing up Lillard - Cam Payne - is expected to suit up against the Celtics after being placed in the league’s concussion protocol. Even though the lefty guard averages only 6.1 points per game, his speed and ability to create off the dribble make him a valuable asset for the Bucks’ second unit.

"Cam practiced as well today. We'll see how he feels in the morning," Griffin added.
