Every new iteration of the popular basketball simulator game NBA 2K brings with it new and updated player ratings as well as animated discussions about who should have the highest rating. This year, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been rated at 96, making him one of the best-rated players in the game. Although some may argue that he is deserving of a higher rating, others feel it is indicative of his recent successes and failures on the court and with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Just right

While some may argue that Giannis is deserving of a much-higher rating, there are some who feel that the figure is just right. The Greek Freak was a monster last season, averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game in 63 regular season games. Those incredible numbers made him a finalist for the MVP award, which eventually went to the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid.

The NBA Playoffs, though, were a different story, as Giannis suffered a back injury in the series opener against the Miami Heat, forcing him to miss the next two games. He eventually returned but was clearly far from his usual self, and the Bucks exited in a shocking upset loss to the Heat.

Nikola Jokic reigns

This year’s highest-rated player is the Denver Nuggets’ versatile behemoth, Nikola Jokic, who garnered a 98 after leading his team to its first NBA championship last season. Giannis is tied for second with four other players—all of whom are rated with a 96. These are fellow superstars LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Embiid, and Kevin Durant.
