The Phoenix Suns are very interested in hiring the Milwaukee Bucks associate coach Charles Lee for their vacant head coaching position and will interview the 38-year-old very soon. According to Chris Haynes, Lee, and the Golden State Warriors associate coach, Kenny Atkinson, are the latest candidates the Phoenix Suns are adding to the list as they search for the person who’ll replace former coach Monty Williams.

Suns not yet finalizing anything

According to Haynes, the Suns have yet to make up their minds regarding anything involving their head coaching vacancy, reporting that the team has “yet to reach the final stage of interviewing candidates.”

Lee, though, is a name that has often popped up in conversations involving coaching vacancies in the NBA right now. NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the long-time Bucks coach is a finalist for the Detroit Pistons head coaching position that was recently vacated by Dwayne Casey.

Excellent development coach

Lee has sharpened his teeth in the Bucks organization working with players with their individual skills. Although he was promoted to associate coach last year, Lee admitted that his responsibilities remain, by and large, the same.

“A lot of things are really the same. I think the title changed, but how I approach the day-to-day is I'm supposed to be a faithful servant to Coach Bud and just really focus on how I can help these players get better individually then it's going to turn over and be able to help us as a team as well,” Lee said.
