Bobby Portis Jr. has been an integral part of the Milwaukee Bucks’ core ever since his arrival in 2020. A versatile forward who gives the Bucks a spark off the bench or even holds his own when called up to start, Portis’ significance to the Eastern Conference powerhouse is without question.

Although the former Arkansas Razorbacks star is signed to the Bucks for two more seasons, a report recently surfaced indicating Portis’ interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers and his former coach, Darvin Ham.

Reunion with Ham

Before taking over the Lakers’ head coaching position, Ham was an integral part of the Bucks’ brain trust, playing a key role in their title run in 2021. If the report is to be believed, it appears the bond between Ham and Portis remains as thick as blood, despite Darvin being all the way in the City of Angels.

Shore up Lakers’ frontcourt

While the report may be nothing but sheer speculation, there’s no question that the Lakers could use a player of Portis’ skills and toughness. At 6-foot-10, Portis could slide in as Anthony Davis’ backup or even play alongside him. After all, spacing will not be an issue as Portis shoots 38% from behind the arc for his career. He played in 70 games for the Bucks this season and almost averaged a double-double with 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds.
