The Milwaukee Bucks’ 2022-2023 season will forever be remembered by players and fans alike for its disastrous end. The Bucks were projected by many to be the odds-on favorite to win it all this season due to a core led by MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo, Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Brook Lopez, All-Stars Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton, and the presence of veteran role players, such as Bobby Portis Jr. and Wesley Matthews.

However, the Bucks failed to come together during the first round of the NBA Playoffs and got upset by the Miami Heat in five games. A report by Yahoo’s Jake Fischer indicated that the Bucks had a move or two up their sleeve at the trade deadline. Had they consummated those, could Milwaukee’s fate have been different?

Trade deadline move

The Bucks’ made a move at the trade deadline, bringing in rugged forward Jae Crowder to bolster their rotation. Curiously, Crowder had a limited role during his Bucks’ stint, causing him to “get confused” as to why he was brought in in the first place. But that was not the only move the Bucks were trying to make. Fischer said the Bucks explored the possibility of acquiring deadeye shooter Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons.

“The Bucks do have a 2029 first-round draft pick still available, which Milwaukee considered using to acquire Bojan Bogdanovic before the February trade deadline,” Fischer wrote.

Back in February, Shams Charania also reported that the Bucks were also interested in the services of All-Star guard Fred Van Vleet of the Toronto Raptors.

Lots of questions regarding the Bucks’ roster

It’s a futile exercise dabbling with what-ifs, but as it is, there are a lot of questions surrounding the Bucks’ roster. The team still has Giannis and Jrue, but Lopez and Middleton have decisions to make in free agency.

The Bucks also have to decide who to bring back from their current roster of role players and whether or not they will be able to add any more pieces through trades or free agency.
