Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will peel back the curtain on his personal life and NBA journey in the upcoming documentary, "Giannis: The Marvelous Journey," shown on February 19 on Amazon Prime. In a newly released trailer for the film, Giannis opens up about a difficult time in his life when he almost gave up basketball.

Almost gave up basketball

On September 29, 2017, Giannis lost his father, Charles, unexpectedly at the young age of 54. The tragic loss left him devastated and reeling with grief. As someone who had always been so close to his family, Giannis found it hard to cope with the sudden absence of his father.

In the trailer, the Greek Freak recalls how he didn't want to play basketball anymore after his father's death.

"I don't wanna play no more. I don't wanna play no more," Giannis said in the trailer.

Docu details Giannis' incredible journey

The 1-hour, 48-minute documentary delves into Antetokounmpo's incredible journey from Greece through Nigeria to Milwaukee, where he moved as a 19-year-old who didn't know anyone in the United States. "Marvelous Journey" will take viewers behind the scenes through in-depth and insightful interviews with Giannis, his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, Alex, and his fiancée Mariah Riddlesprigger.

Former Bucks coach Jason Kidd, current assistant coach Vin Baker, and former teammate Jrue Holiday also appear in the documentary, adding their insights and perspectives on Giannis' rise to superstardom.
