DeMar DeRozan has only been a Chicago Bull for two seasons, but apparently, his time in the Windy City has been enough to convince him this is the place he wants to call home for the rest of his career. In a recent interview with Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina, DeRozan expressed his desire to remain in Chicago and finish what he started there.

Mixed bag

Deebo’s time in Chicago has yielded a mixed bag of results. His first season with the Bulls saw the team rise to the top of the Eastern Conference before a knee injury to lead guard Lonzo Ball torpedoed the team’s title aspirations. Last season, DeRozan and the Bulls struggled to find any rhythm and missed the postseason by a single game.

DeRozan is set to play in his 15th NBA season and the last year of a three-year contract he signed with the team in 2021. This has brought on conversations regarding his future with the Bulls. Some corners say the Bulls should trade him away rather than lose him for nothing next season. DeRozan, though, had something to say about that.

“That's a place I want to be and end my career,” DeRozan said, referring to Chicago. “I want to be able to accomplish everything I've set out to accomplish. That's all I can worry about and control. I have the utmost confidence in myself.”

Let things fall where they may

DeRozan is already 34 years old, although he’s yet to show any signs of decline. As a matter of fact, Deebo averaged 24.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game last season, playing in 74 regular season games. Clearly, he still has plenty left in the tank.

At the same time, DeRozan also seems to understand that his career won’t last forever. He knows that he has to make the most of his remaining years in the league since this could very well be it for him.

“I'll let my agent and the organization deal with that side of things, to be honest man. From their standpoint, they want me to be there long-term and vice versa. We'll see what happens from there,” he concluded.
