Multiple Cavaliers Up For NBA Awards

Cleveland Cavaliers: Jarrett Allen and Georges Niang are finalists for NBA Awards.

The end of the regular season means the beginning of the award season for the NBA. Obviously, the most popular awards fans track throughout the year are MVP, DPOY, and ROY. However, other accolades highlight the impact players have in the basketball community and the locker room.

Two members of the Cleveland Cavaliers are up for one of those awards.

Jarrett Allen - Sportsman Of The Year

The first member of the Wine and Gold who’s up for an award is Jarrett Allen who was announced as a finalist for the Sportsman of the Year award. This honor “recognizes the player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court.”

There were six finalists for the award with one coming from each division in the NBA.  The other finalists are the Philadelphia 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey, Miami Heat’s (and former Cavalier) Kevin Love, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Sacramento Kings’ Harrison Barnes, and San Antion Spurs’ Tre Jones.

Georges Niang - Twyman-Stokes Teammate Of The Year Award

The Cavs brought in Georges Niang in the offseason to help with floor spacing, to shoot threes off the bench, and to be a positive veteran presence in the locker room. His positive impact is now getting recognition from the league as he was announced as one of the finalists for the 2023-24 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

This honor highlights the player who is “deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to the team.”

The other finalists for the Award are Harrison Barnes, Brooklyn Nets’ Mikal Bridges, New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, Denver Nuggets’ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Mike Conley, Orlando Magic’s Markelle Fultz, Boston Celtics’ Al Horford, Indiana Pacers’ T.J. McConnell, New Orleans Pelicans (and former Cavalier) Larry Nance Jr., Dallas Mavericks’ Dwight Powell, and Oklahoma City Thunders’ Jalen Williams
