Wizards talk with free agent big man Cousins

The Washington Wizards had a conversation with unrestricted free agent DeMarcus Cousins last week in Las Vegas, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post.

Cousins, who played last season with the Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $5.3 million deal, spoke with Wizards interim president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard, Buckner reported.

The six-time All-Star returned from a torn Achilles' tendon suffered in January 2019 while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans during a game in Houston to average 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocked shots in 25.7 minutes in 30 games (all starts) for the Warriors last season, shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 27.4 percent from beyond the 3-point line and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Cousins, 28, was the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Kentucky by the Sacramento Kings.
