Grizzlies decline option on former lottery pick Jackson

The Memphis Grizzlies have declined the fourth-year option on small forward Josh Jackson, according to Chris Herrington of the Daily Memphian.

The decision will make the former lottery pick an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Jackson is 6-foot-8 and was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the No. 4 overall pick in 2017. He was traded from the Suns to the Grizzlies this past offseason -- and will begin the season with the Memphis Hustle of the G League.

Jackson is entering his third NBA season. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in 79 games last year with the Suns.

The Grizzlies open the season Wednesday on the road against the Miami Heat.
