Chinese prospect Abudurexiti making pre-draft rounds

After the Yao Ming era, Chinese prospects are being taken seriously by the NBA, such as center Zhou Qi of the Western Conference finalists Houston Rockets. But Qi is just the most recent Chinese player playing professionally in America, with perhaps a new one on the way.

The latest? Small forward Abudushalamu Abudurexiti.

Per The Athletic's Michael Scotto, Abudurexiti has already worked out for eight teams ahead of the 2018 NBA Draft -- including the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.

Abudurexiti, who turns 22 years old later this month, has been playing for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. He is a native of Xinjiang.

"He has good size for his position at 6-foot-8, shoots a deep 3-pointer with range and is easy with his feet set, and has a nice feel (for the game)," one NBA executive told The Athletic. "He lacks the foot speed to defend, which will be a big issue. He could be a late 50s guy to undrafted. Shooting the 3-pointer gives him a chance."
