Pistons star forward Griffin out to begin season

Detroit Pistons power forward Blake Griffin will miss the start of the season with a left hamstring issue and knee soreness, the team announced in a news release.

Griffin is expected to be out until sometime in November.

Griffin, 30, appeared in 75 games last season and averaged a career-high 24.5 points. He also made the All-Star team for the first time since 2015.

The Pistons open the season Wednesday at the Indiana Pacers, then return home the next night to face the Atlanta Hawks.
