Nets acquire center Monroe in trade with Raptors

The Brooklyn Nets have acquired center Greg Monroe and a second-round pick from the Toronto Raptors, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

In 38 games with the Raptors, Monroe has averaged 4.8 points and 4.1 rebounds playing around 11 minutes per game.

Since spending the first five years of his career with the Detroit Pistons, Monroe has struggled to find a fit around the league. The Nets will be Monroe's fifth team since the 2016 season, as his game does not work too well in the modern, perimeter-oriented NBA.

The Nets currently are sixth in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, and Monroe could help provide a toughness down the stretch.

Monroe, 28, has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.
