Nets guard Russell to replace Pacers' Oladipo in All-Star Game

Indiana Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo is out for the 2019 All-Star game after undergoing season-ending surgery on a ruptured right quadriceps tendon, and there's been some questions as to who was going to take his place.

The NBA today answered that question, as Brooklyn Nets point guard D’Angelo Russell will replace Oladipo, earning his first NBA All-Star selection, and becoming the first Nets All-Star since the 2013-14 campaign.

Russell is having an excellent season for the Nets, who currently hold the sixth spot in the East with a mark of 28-25, as he's putting up 19.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game

He is also shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The guard had a big January for the Nets, as he averaged in the first month of 2019 close to 24 points a game (23.8) to go along with 7.3 assists. He was a huge factor in the Nets having one of their best months in recent memory, as they went 11-4 in the 15 games played.

The Nets acquired Russell in the summer of 2017 from the Los Angeles Lakers, and this will be an interesting offseason for him as he's an restricted free agent after this season concludes.
