Bucks' Connaughton has COVID-19, not with team in Orlando bubble

Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton is one of the team's key rotation players, with his athleticism and decent shooting making him a serviceable reserve guard.

Connaughton is currently not with the Bucks in the Orlando bubble, though. He has tested positive for COVID-19, according to ESPN's Malika Andrews. Connaughton said in a statement that he is healthy and is eager to be back with his teammates once he passes the NBA's return protocols.

Eric Bledsoe is the only other known Bucks player who has had a positive test, but he said he was asymptomatic, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said recently that the team feels Bledsoe is "on the closer end of the spectrum (to returning) than the longer,” according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Connaughton has played in 61 regular season games this season, scoring 5.1 points per game and tying his career-high of 4.2 rebounds a game. Playing 18.3 minutes a game, he's shot 45.6% from the field.

But his perimeter shooting numbers aren't as ideal. This season, Connaughton has shot 32.1% from the 3-point line. He has a career 34.3% 3-point percentage.

The Bucks, the top team in the NBA, will play their first seeding game July 31 against the Boston Celtics.
