Report: Celtics could discipline Smart after he returns

As MarcusSmart's lacerated right hand heals during what could be a two-week absence from the Boston Celtics, the possibility he could be facing a fine and/or a suspension is very much on the table.

Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald writes the team is still weighing its options, even though it is satisfied with Smart's explanation.

Smart cut his hand while punching a picture frame in a Beverly Hills hotel room. Glass was found in the wound in his hand, which required stitches.

The swingman's ire was apparently in regards to photographs posted on social media by a female acquaintance, images which have seen been deleted.

As Bulpett writes, Celtics coach BradStevens said any punishment for Smart would "most likely be handled internally."

The Eastern Conference-leading Celtics (35-15) have dropped five of their last six games.
