Rosala: Butler gives Sixers a new process

The Philadelphia 76ers have been trusting the process for the majority of this decade. Tonight starts the beginning of a brand-new process for the organization.

The Sixers traded for All-Star swingman Jimmy Butler on Sunday, and changed the landscape of the entire Eastern Conference. No longer do the Sixers embrace the tank, or want people to trust the process of drafting college players. They have gone all in to not only win the East (for the first time since 2001), but to also win their first NBA championship since 1983. The addition of Butler alongside JoelEmbiid and BenSimmons gives Philadelphia three legitimate superstars.

Tonight is a new beginning with the debut of Butler and these new-look Sixers against the Orlando Magic. With the departures of DarioSaric, RobertCovington and JerrydBayless, Philadelphia will be looking to add additional help for its big three three. New general manager Elton Brand will have his plate full the rest of the season leading up to the trade deadline. Brand is armed with plenty of cap space and multiple, valuable draft picks.

Brand will need to add quality 3-point shooters, defensive-minded guys and veterans to help a young team learn how to win in the playoffs. Guys such as Kyle Korver, Courtney Lee, Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams, Terrance Ross and KentBazemore are names that should be paid close attention to when looking at who the Sixers will be adding next.

The next few months will be interesting, to say the least, for Brand & Co. The Sixers are poised to make a run at an NBA title and have fans all around the league finally believing in the process.
