Stevens: Hayward still not anticipated back this season

Though he is making good progress in his rehabilitation from the gruesome left ankle injury suffered in Cleveland against the Cavaliers on opening night, don't look for Gordon Hayward to be returning to action this season, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens on a tweet by ESPN's Chris Forsberg.

Hayward, signed as a free agent last summer by Boston after seven seasons with the Utah Jazz, is with the team on its western road swing and could begin traveling with the team on a regular basis, according to a report by Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston.

The 6-foot-8, 226-pound forward out of Butler University, where he starred while playing for Stevens, has career averages of 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.3 minutes per game.

Boston, which leads the Eastern Conference with a 35-15 record, fell at Golden State, 109-105, on Saturday night at Oracle Arena.
